Hi I’m Paula. And I didn’t wake up like this.
A lot of coaches and consultants answer this question with a cute anecdote about how they looked up one day, felt inspired, struck gold in this business, and never looked back.
That’s not me.
When I first became an entrepreneur, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I would attend networking events and pitch to just about anyone who was willing to listen. But no matter what, I got a lot of nos.
The first couple of times, brushing it off was easy. Rome wasn’t built in a day after all. Once the nos started rolling in, however, I started to wonder.
Objectively, I was qualified.
Could I Be the Problem?
I had a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a Business minor and a Professional Designation Associate of Arts Degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. On top of that I was also certified in International Business Marketing through the University of Oxford.
Yet despite it all, I still wasn’t hearing the word “Yes.”
As it turned out, the secret to success wasn’t in the classes I took in college. It was the skills that I didn’t learn in school that turned out to be the difference-makers.
